The first container developed as part of the Groasis Ecological Water Saving Technology was the Waterboxx® plant cocoon. With our first Waterboxx® plant cocoon, trees and vegetables could be planted in an efficient and water-saving way. The Waterboxx® plant cocoon is made of polypropylene and can therefore be used for several years - a new tree every year on average. Due to the high quality and expensive production material of the Waterboxx® plant cocoon, the container is not always affordable for everyone.
That is why Groasis has developed the biodegradable Growboxx® plant cocoon. The Growboxx® plant cocoon works basically the same as the Waterboxx® plant cocoon, but is made of recycled paper pulp and can therefore be used once for planting. The use of paper pulp results in a much lower cost and provides the planter with an affordable and simple planting solution for the following situations, among others:
It is possible to plant on sand dunes.
It is possible to plant in burned forests
It is possible to plant on rocks and mountains
It is possible to plant in the desert
It is possible to plant in dry areas
It is possible to plant in eroded areas
It is possible to reforest many acres while keeping costs low - for both bins and labor.
Of course, the Growboxx® plant cocoon can also be used on fertile soils, where the bin helps with faster growth, an increase in biomass and also a higher survival rate.
The Growboxx® plant cocoon is also called an intelligent bucket. As you can see from the image below, the Growboxx® plant cocoon is a square bucket with a hole in the center that is placed over the a young tree (no seeds!) such as a young fruit tree or other productive tree. Seeds for shrubs, flowers or vegetables can be placed in the seed compartments of the lid with some soil. These seeds will germinate due to the moisture and then grow hydroponically in the water which is in the container. So you can easily plant a tree in combination with 4 vegetables, shrubs or flowers. You can also cut a piece out of the lid and hang a plant pot with plant in it. You cut off the bottom of the pot so that the roots hang freely in the water.
The Growboxx® plant cocoon can be used for several purposes. First, a person can use the container to plant a fruit tree in combination with vegetables. The vegetables grown in the bin will produce fruit within the first year. As a result, in the first year you will already benefit from the crops you plant with the Growboxx® plant cocoon.
A farmer in a developing country can use the fruits to feed his family or to sell. With the money earned or saved, he can buy another Growboxx®. After a few years, the tree is big enough to give fruit. Thus, the Growboxx® provides not only short-term benefits, but also long-term ones.
The Growboxx® plant cocoon can also be used for ecosystem restoration, reforestation projects or landscape planting in cities. Companies, governments or other agencies can use the Growboxx® plant cocoon to make cities greener against air pollution, plant trees in combination with shrubs in burned forests or plant eroded areas of land with other productive trees for the production of wood, medicine or rubber.
Plant trees economically
So with the Growboxx® plant cocoon, it is possible to plant trees in combination with vegetables, shrubs or flowers in a relatively inexpensive way. The Growboxx® provides water to the tree during the first year. Because of its biodegradability, after a year - when the Growboxx® plant cocoon is empty - it will break down naturally and serve as a nutrient for the tree.
