Lightweight champion

Paulownia wood is one of the lightest woods in the world and is considered the “aluminum among woods”. This is due to the honeycomb structure of the fibers which naturally gives it tremendous strength. In addition, this structure is closed, so the wood absorbs little to no water. Besides its extremely low average weight of only 290 kg/m3 (+/- 30 kg), this wood species has other attractive properties, such as high specific strength (stability) and the attractive straight grain - a knot-free grain, which also makes it easy to work with. Thanks to these properties, this wood is used in a wide variety of industries, and its international market is growing rapidly.
